Nā Mākua Wahine Fund

Gift preparation. Honor strength.

In Hawaiʻi, names carry meaning. They connect us to lineage, to calling, and to the quiet strength of those who came before us.

The Nā Mākua Wahine Fund was created in honor of one of those women — Abigail Naluai — who prayed over my name before she gave it.
Today, we pass that care forward by gifting Kōkua Kits to women whose everyday resilience shelters others.
Because honoring them isn't extra — it's essential.

Honoring: My Mom, Gramma Abby, Aunty Miko, and All the Women Who Shelter Others— the ones who live with aloha, lead by example, and show what resilience and kuleana look like.

Nā Mākua Wahine Fund

Our Mission

In honor of the women who hold us together.

In Hawaiʻi, storms can arrive without warning — and not every ʻohana has the resources to prepare ahead of time.

Through the Nā Mākua Wahine Fund, we honor women whose quiet strength builds our communities by gifting them Kōkua Kits — bundles of readiness rooted in calm, care, and aloha.

Each kit is a small way to say mahalo for the shelter, service, and resilience they bring to our islands.

This fund was created in memory of Abigail Naluai 'Gramma Abby' — a woman of deep faith in God who wasn’t my blood, but named me with love:

E maluhia ka hale, e ka ʻEhukai
A peaceful place for the Treasures of the Sea

Names are important. They carry meaning, legacy, and sometimes even our purpose — long before we understand it.

But now I see: this is my way of living into that name. I pray I honor God and Gramma Abby by extending this with the same care and faith she gave it — and that I live up to the meaning she saw in me before I could see it myself.

What the Fund Does:

We gift Kōkua Kits to women in Hawaiʻi who care for others, protect ʻohana, and create shelter in the hardest moments. These kits are not based on income or application — they are a recognition of strength, service, and aloha in action.

Know someone who carries others with quiet strength?

Use the form below to nominate a woman in Hawaiʻi whose care, resilience, and aloha deserve to be honored with a gifted Kōkua Kit through the Nā Mākua Wahine Fund.

This isn’t about status — it’s about spirit.
We see her. And we’d love to hear her story.

Why It Matters

Because most emergencies don’t feel like emergencies at first. Because women are often the ones carrying others through the unknown. Because peace should be present, not out of reach.

This isn’t just a bag. It’s a beginning. And this fund helps us offer it to the ones who need it most.
