Nā Mākua Wāhine Fund: First Kōkua Recipient Aunty Blanche Mcmillan

I wanted to share something really special.

We just gifted the first Kōkua Kit from the Nā Mākua Wāhine Fund to a woman who has poured so much into her community — Aunty Blanche Mcmillan, founder of Hui Mahiʻai ʻĀina in Waimānalo.

If you don’t know Aunty Blanche, she’s the one behind the tiny homes project for the houseless in Waimānalo. But it’s more than homes. It’s a place of dignity, healing, and aloha — and she’s been faithful every step of the way.

The kit was given to her by someone who sees her as more than a leader — someone who walks with Jesus and loves deeply. We were honored to include this note from Michele, from the family of Gramma Abby Naluai:

“Aloha Aunty Blanche,

It is with much aloha I include this note in the gift of your Kokua kit from Na Makua Wahine Fund. I was asked by their founder if I knew a woman in our community deserving of this honor and you came to mind. Your love for our Jesus and obedience to His will is an inspiration to me and blessing to our community. Mahalo nui!

The fund was created in honor of my Grandmother, Abigail Naluai, who gave a Hawaiian name to a 16 year old girl for her birthday. She has grown into a woman of faith, and like you, has put her faith into action, believing that God has called her to share His Aloha Spirit through the Na Makua Wahine Fund. Grandma would be thrilled. Praise the Lord!
